Is acquired through the fecal-oral route by ingestion of contaminated water or food. Most of these infections are caused by poor hygienic conditions (e.g., someone who may not wash their hands well after going to the bathroom) or just bacteria and virus. Infectious diarrhea is usually contagious, meaning you picked it up from contact with another person.

If you ate more than usual, it could be hurting because it’s full of too much food. On the other hand, your stomach could feel “off” because you ate foods that disagree with it.
